About this spot
The fire hut, Frejas Sal, is a place where larger and smaller groups can gather in dry weather to cook over a fire or eat their packed food. There are many seating options in the fire hut, including a beautiful 7-meter long table with benches along the sides, some with backrests. At the long table, in the middle of the long side closest to the grill’s heat, free space has been created for people in wheelchairs or using walkers to join. There is also a children’s corner with benches and tables for the youngest. Additionally, there are 2-3 picnic tables that can be moved in or out of the fire hut depending on the weather. Centrally in the fire hut, there is a fire ring with a height-adjustable grill grate. The fire hut is surrounded by trees on all sides and is hidden off a side road from the marked yellow route, close to the parking lot in Storskoven. The fire hut is located in a peaceful area, and you can often hear woodpeckers tapping on a nearby tree. You only need to walk approx. 250 meters along a solid path from the parking lot at Skovvej 23, 4330 Hvalsø to reach the fire hut. There is no waste bin in the hut, and all waste must be taken home by yourself. You must bring your own firewood. Remember to extinguish the fire before leaving the hut. The fire hut cannot be booked, but by agreement, Hvalsø Skole will use the fire hut during the school year 25/26 on Mondays and Wednesdays during school hours, between 08:00 and 14:00, so it will be occupied then.
