In North Zealand, between Frederiksværk and Hundested, you will find one of Denmark’s oldest ecological villages, Dyssekilde. In 1990, it was merely a potato field. Today we are a vibrant community with nearly 130 adults and 60 children aged 0-100 years, distributed among 91 households. In everyday speech, we are called ØD, and we try to live a life with community, tolerance, and respect, and with a focus on sustainability and ecology. This applies to the solutions we have used for, among other things, our community house, wastewater treatment, waste sorting, and vegetable cultivation. You are welcome to take a walk in the village and look around, with respect for us who live here. Our playground is located by the station, which is open to the public, and you are also welcome there. We have some simple rules for visitors to the tent site as follows: The camping area can be used for tent camping, max. two overnight stays. There must be quiet in the area between 10 PM and 8 AM. Campers may use composting toilets and the water tap (see signage). It is forbidden to wash dishes at the water tap. Water can be drawn at the water tap, and wastewater can be distributed in the bushes. Open fires are only allowed at the campfire site. Make sure to fill the bucket with water. Firewood can be collected from the brush pile on the other side of the road. Use the saw if necessary. Campers do not have usage rights to ØD’s other shared facilities (however, the playground by the station is open to everyone).
