GPS coordinates: 55.87707959536077, 10.009240952385493. The site has space for tents, 2 shelters, a large fire pit, and a toilet. Here you will find peace and idyll by Horsens Fjord with flowers and grazing cattle on the salt marshes. The site is sheltered from the land side by an old apple orchard and screened by smaller trees. It’s less than 100 meters to the beach, which has excellent bathing water quality, very shallow water – good for children – where you can swim, wade, and catch shore crabs at sunset. A good place to watch birds during the day; waders, cormorants, and the white-tailed eagle pair that breeds on the protected island Vorsø, which you can see across. A good place to stargaze at night if it’s clear, as there is low light pollution and a clear view of the sky. Perhaps you will hear the long-eared owl… Facilities: • Overnight stays in a tent or shelter. Shelters can be booked via link • Maximum 2 consecutive nights allowed at the site • Table-and-bench sets and a higher kitchen table • Fire pit – bring your own firewood; dry twigs and smaller branches may be collected • Leave the site clean and tidy – take all trash with you • Water tap open during the summer season, toilet open all year (composting toilet) • Relatively wheelchair-friendly, as you can be dropped off at the parking lot near the shelter and roll across fairly even grass. The site is located on Naturstyrelsen’s land but is established and operated by Horsens Kommune, Natur og Miljø.
