Øen Enehøje (ikke shelterpladsen)

Enehøje is just under 3 kilometers long and lives up to its name, as the island’s highest point, 16 meters, rises high above the otherwise flat West Lolland landscape. The island is also called Peter Freuchens Ø, as the famous polar explorer lived here during the period 1926-1940. A gazebo made of whale jaws at the island’s highest point testifies to this. There is public access to most of the island, with the exception of privately owned buildings and the northern part of the island, which is closed to traffic during bird breeding season from March 15 to July 15. A shelter site has been established on the island. The shelter site is booked separately. You can sail to Enehøje, and during the summer half of the year, the post boat also sails here.
