About this spot
In 2017, a 42-hectare wetland was established at Bjørnebækken. The wetland was established to remove nitrogen from Karrebæk Fjord, but the area has quickly developed into a very bird-rich area; among other things, two artificial islands have been created where avocets, black-headed gulls, and terns can breed. Bird tower and nature experiences: To share the great ornithological experience with more people, a powerful telescope has been installed in the tower. Lagunestien, which is part of Sjællandsleden, passes right by the bird tower, and there is both a beautiful municipal coastal forest and a beach, a shelter site, toilet and shower, as well as a support point for canoes and kayaks. In connection with the bird tower, two circular tour options have been created, one of which, however, can only be used outside the birds’ breeding season. Remember to keep dogs on a leash.
