About this spot

Aaby Skoven was established to protect groundwater and thus the drinking water resource. Therefore, in several places in the forest, you can see Aabybro waterworks’ boreholes. Although the area appears flat, there are differences in elevation, and these are reflected in the choice of tree species. Furthest north towards Vildmosen, the soil is low and very moist. Here, no forest has been planted, and nature is allowed to develop from meadow and willow thicket to forest with rowan, birch, and trembling aspen, as seen in other places towards Vildmosen. Around most of the forest, wide forest edges have been planted with sloe, hazel, cherry, various roses, blackberries, etc. Besides being beautiful, the forest edges are of great value to insects and birds and, of course, forest visitors. In Aaby Skoven, there are good opportunities for outdoor experiences, and facilities include a parking lot, hiking trails, an observation tower, riding trails, a campfire site, a packed lunch house, a shelter, and an enclosed dog forest.
