Havbjerg Skov was established through a large afforestation and nature restoration project in connection with Brokholm Sø. The entire area now constitutes a unique natural site. The forest-poor Salling has gained a forest, and together with Brokholm Sø, Gåsemosen, and the surrounding agricultural land, a biotope has been created, which contains a rich variety of animals, plants, and insects. Marked hiking trails and bridle paths have been laid out in the forest, and in June 2010, an exercise track was inaugurated, which everyone is welcome to use. Likewise, in Havbjerg Skov, there is a shelter fort that can be booked for overnight stays.
