About this spot
Højbjerg forest is located in a very hilly area by Musholm Bay. From the distinctive hat-shaped hill “Højbjerg,” there is a fantastic view to the west over Storebælt and the bridge, and to the east over a good part of the West Zealand landscape. Højbjerg forest is intersected by the railway to Funen and Jutland, and is a mosaic of forested areas and open spaces, with many outdoor facilities in the forest. In the middle of the area, close to the railway, there is an enclosed dog forest with activity equipment for dogs, and southeast of this is a primitive overnight camping spot with 3 shelters and a lake with a fishing jetty. The Muskelsvindfonden holiday center “Musholm Bugt” is located close to Højbjerg forest, which therefore also contains a wheelchair-accessible nature trail connected to the holiday center’s paths, as well as similar wheelchair-accessible nature trails in a nearby municipally owned nature area, Oldenbjerg, which is also a significant viewpoint in the area.
