Nim Kano- og Shelterplads

The site was established in 2025 and caters to hikers, cyclists, and canoeists on the Gudenåen river. Watch video on YouTube here. Shelters: Three large and spacious log shelters, beautifully integrated into the slope. Next to the shelters there is a fire pit, with a picnic table and bench set. Each shelter has 7 spots, which can be booked in advance. A spot in the shelters costs 50 DKK per night per spot. If you have booked shelter spots, you have first right to the spots. If the spot is not occupied by 7 PM, it will be assigned to the first arrival. Booking takes place via Horsens Kommune’s website. Note that you must be registered as a user first. Payment is made via MobilePay (35252) to Nim Borgerforening. GPS coordinates for the shelter site: 55.939743, 9.663374. Canoe Facilities: There is a landing pier and slipway for canoes, and there are shelves on land for storage. It is not a launch and retrieval point for canoes. Toilet and Drinking Water: A modern composting toilet has been installed, as well as a tap with fresh drinking water. The tap is closed when temperatures approach freezing. Here you also have the opportunity to dispose of waste in the bins - leave only your footprint! Fires, Firewood, and the Small Print: Fires may only be lit at the 3 designated fire pits. Firewood can be purchased at the site. Setting up tents is not permitted. The site is not wheelchair accessible. Access Road: Due to the area’s design and beauty, no parking spaces have been established, so arrive on foot or by bicycle. Follow the path/track from Porskærvej (GPS: 55.93754 9.66438). Walk along the hedgerow. Nearest Shopping: Min Købmand in the town of Nim (approx. 3.5 km) Præstevænget 13A, 8740 Brædstrup. Gudenåstien – from source to fjord. The shelter site is located along Gudenåstien. The hiking route stretches over 170 km from its source in Tinnet Krat to its outlet in Randers Fjord, connecting existing paths such as Trækstien and Himmelbjergruten into one long route along Denmark’s longest river, Gudenåen.
