Baun Plantage

Baun Plantage is a very varied plantation, lying almost like an island in agricultural land. The western part of the plantation, which is the oldest, was established on old sod areas - that is, areas that were expropriated during World War II with the purpose of stripping sod for covering German bunkers. After the war, the areas were transferred to the state, and planting took place around 1960. From the start, the plantation was almost one continuous stand of Serbian spruce, which in the early 1990s was underplanted primarily with oak and beech. The eastern part of the plantation consists of former farmland, which was purchased and partially planted in 1991. The plantation is of great importance as a habitat for wildlife, not least for roe deer and hares. There are also several large complexes of fox and badger dens.
