About this spot

Canoeing on Tim Å is a scenic experience and offers varying degrees of difficulty. The first part of the stretch – from Torstedvej between Torsted and Ørnhøj to Vandmøllevej between Torsted and Tim – is challenging with dense vegetation and new rapids with a relatively fast current. The stream is cleared at the start of the season of fallen trees and low-hanging branches, but new ones continuously appear, and it’s a good idea to bring a saw if you venture out on this part. The stretch from Vandmøllevej to Åvænget in Tim is a bit easier, but at least as scenic. Just upstream of the railway bridge in Tim, the first of the new canoe bridges has been built. Here you will also find a shelter with ample space for a large family, and there are parking facilities for canoe trailers. From this canoe bridge, all skill levels can paddle the last section of the stream. You can either disembark where the stream crosses Tim Kirkevej – or you can continue across Tim Enge to where Tim Enge meets Stadil Fjord at Stadilvej. Here lies canoe bridge number two, where there are also parking facilities and picnic tables. The water level in Tim Enge can at times be so low that you have to get out of the canoe and pull it a short distance. On a calm day, you can continue out into Stadil Fjord and down to the bathing spot Alrum, where there is a toilet, running water, a shelter site, and good parking facilities. At wind speeds above 5 m/s, canoeing on Stadil Fjord is not recommended. If you want to know more about canoeing on Tim Å and possibly borrowing canoe equipment, information can be found on Tim Sogn’s website: https://tim-sogn.dk/foreninger/tim-mose/kanoudlejning/ Alrum Strand shelter site can be booked at www.pladsinaturen.dk
