About this spot
2 small 4-person shelters are located in the area by Skovsøen in the northern part of Ålbæk Klitplantage, where there is also a large fire hut, drinking water, dog forest, composting toilet, and parking nearby. The North Sea Trail and the local red hiking route pass right by. The shelters are located in the noble fir growth west of the fire hut. They face east, and if you are lucky enough for the sun to shine in the morning, its rays will come down through the trees to the forest floor and the shelters. The shelters cannot be booked, so use is “first come, first served” – move closer together to make space for more. A single small tent may be pitched right by the shelters, or hammocks hung in the trees. In any case, you may stay a maximum of 2 nights at the same spot. No campfires are allowed by the shelters – use the fire pit in the fire hut. No firewood is laid out, but dry branches may be collected from the forest floor. Storm kitchens or similar may be used by the shelters if stable and fire-safe – e.g., on a small plate you bring. Keep the site neat and clean and always take your waste with you. Parking is available at the parking lot by the dog forest on Gårdbovej, only 75 meters away. The place is run by Ålbæk Borgerforening.
