Shelterplads Himmelev Skov

In Himmelev Skov, there are two shelters side by side, each with its own campfire site with a grill and a picnic table set. The shelters are located in a small spruce plantation not far from Himmelev Bæk, and southeast of Nævlinge Sø. The shelters must be booked and are aimed at groups of a total of approx. eight to ten people in total, four/six in each shelter. When booking the shelter site, you book both shelters. It is not allowed to pitch tents next to the shelters. There is a small primitive toilet 50 meters north of the shelters, without running water. Remember to bring your own toilet paper. There is no water at the site; you must bring your own. You must also bring your own firewood. Upon arrival by car, the nearest car park is on Store Valbyvej (indicated in Google Maps as “Parkering – Himmelev Skov – Store Valbyvej”). From there, it’s 2.3 km by bike or on foot along a gravel path and foot trail to the shelter site. It is not possible to drive a car up to the shelters to unload equipment or to park close to them. The paths to the shelter site and the shelter site itself are not accessible for wheelchair users as the terrain is very varied, uneven, and can be damp. There are no waste bins at the shelters; what you bring, you must also take home. The site can only be booked three months in advance, and for a maximum of two nights at a time. Faint sound from a nearby wind turbine may occur. Respect nearby private properties. The shelter was built with support from A.P. Møller Fonden.
