Øster Skerninge Kirke

The Øster Skerninge church shelter was built on the initiative of the Øster Skerninge parish council in a small apple orchard adjacent to the churchyard. The shelter faces southwest, where the evening sun sets over the field that the shelter overlooks. The apple orchard and shelter are situated to provide peace and quiet from traffic and visitors to the church and churchyard, allowing for undisturbed stays. There is a picnic table, and at the Parish Hall (Sognehuset), located 30 m from the apple orchard, you will find a toilet, water, electricity, and a loaner bicycle. (1½ km to bakery and grocery store). Øster Skerninge Church is worth a visit, as it is the only church in Denmark with a blue limewashed interior. The church is open during the daytime. Our shelter is for peace, enjoyment, and rest. As it is located by the church and has neighbors, there is no room for parties or noisy behavior. The shelter must be booked here: www.bookenshelter.dk
