About this spot
In both plantations, there are large areas with inland dunes, which were planted with mountain pines to combat sand drift in the 1800s. In most places, the mountain pine has been replaced by more productive tree species such as noble fir, Scots pine, and Nordmann fir, but there are also areas with beech and oak in the plantations.
